At Flight Charter, we are committed to making a difference in the community. We love to use jet charter to support worthy causes and showcase its benefits.
Earlier this month, Flight Charter crew David & Cian conducted an ‘Angel Flight’ jet charter. Angel Flight Australia is a charity which coordinates non-emergency flights to assist country people to access specialist medical treatment that would otherwise be unavailable to them because of the lack of commercial routes, vast distances and travel costs associated with jet charter.
On this latest Angel Flight, the Flight Charter team volunteered both the aircraft and crew to deliver short life medicinal treatments required by a patient in Brewarrina NSW. There is no airline service to Brewarrina and it is a 10hr drive, each way.
The team met Alice from the Brewarrina hospital upon arrival who gratefully received the supplies and took them straight back to be administered to the recipient.
As always, it was a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community while demonstrating the advantages of private aviation. David & Cian left Sydney at noon and were back on the ground at 6:30pm after having also stopped for a business meeting along the way. Half a day flying versus 2-3 days on the road.
Would you like to give to this worthy cause? Angel Flight Australia accept donations in the format of volunteering (pilots and drivers are needed) or monetary donations. Click here to get involved.
Founder David Mackey has always had a strong sense of giving back and over the years has been part of many great initiatives to do just that.
David has also volunteered for the next ‘Outback Air Race’, due to take place later in the year. The Outback Air Race is an aviation time trial through the remote Australian Outback. The Outback Air Race has raised funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. Since 1996, competitors and spectators have raised over $3.1 million. Funds from each race go towards outfitting RFDS aircraft with essential medical equipment, vital for treating sick and injured patients across Australia. A great cause – watch this space for updates!
David’s volunteering doesn’t stop there. He also volunteers at the Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade, providing fire and emergency response to Glenorie and surrounding areas. As a first responder, David is first aid trained and his pager can go off 24/7 to support at bushfires, storm and flood damage, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies and more.
We believe it’s important for our clients to learn a bit about the people behind the business, and hope this has given you an insight.
